The morning of Brett & Laura's wedding I could barely see through the windshield of my car.  We sat in my car in the parking lot of the Bleak House preparing ourselves for the intense amount of water falling from the sky.  In so many of these photos you can barely tell that it was POURING down rain.  With a camera in one hand and an umbrella in the other, I did my best try to get really nice, pretty photos of the venue before we started on details.

When I saw Laura for the first time that day, I could quickly tell that she wasn't that worried about the rain.  Of course there's a moment of disappointment, but she had embraced it all and was just excited to be marrying Brett.  That's when I looked to Jess and said "Let's tell this story, the story of a rainy and beautiful wedding day."

I LOVE how it all turned out.  Most everywhere you looked, the Bleak House told more of the history of the Civil War.  The gardens behind the historical landmark are absolutely beautiful, so we just grabbed umbrellas and went about the day.  Laura wore those rain boots as if that was her plan all along.  There was so much laughter and elegance despite the rain!

From Laura:

Brett and I met through mutual friends that went to Brett's high school.  I lived in Nashville at the time and Brett was finishing school at UT. Our first date was on the patio at Aubrey’s on a beautiful June evening. Our second date was 18 holes of golf at the Wee Course and I knew he must have liked me because I am a terrible golfer. I probably lost a dozen golf balls that day but we still had a wonderful time.

Brett proposed at a tailgate before the UT / Florida game on Sept. 15, 2012. We are both UT fans so it was a perfect proposal!

From Brett:

Stopping to take a breath and realizing that I knew everybody within my sight; and watching everybody have a wonderful time just being together. It truly was a gathering of the closest people to Laura and I think everybody had just as good of time as we did.

Besides marrying the girl I love, and spending the whole day with my small family and closest friends, my grandfather had a moment I will never forget witnessing. We were getting ready to cut the cake and I noticed my grandfather staring at the pictures on the cake table from across the room. My real grandmother passed away when I was very young (1989), and I never had the chance to know her. He stood up and walked across the room without his walker and picked up a wedding picture of he and my grandmother. He stared at that picture for what seemed forever. I approached him and when he looked at me he said,"I have not seen this picture in over 40 years".

From Laura:

Don’t be afraid to let people help you. The little details were rather stressful but we had some wonderful family and friends that helped me pull them all together. So many of our dear family and friends came early and stayed late to help and that truly made our wedding day extra special.

Brett and Laura -- thank you for inviting us to be a part of your celebration.  We loved getting to play in the rain with you!  Now we just need to invest in some cool rain boots like yours.
