Amber and Mark's wedding was beautifully designed! Every detail was elegant and rustic. She's from Jersey, he's from the great state of Tennessee. Their planner did a wonderful job of styling the merging of the two! Seriously, I highly recommend Amos Events. The wedding was held on a family farm in Murfreesboro and one of the most unique aspects was the arrangement of the day: Cocktail hour, then ceremony, followed by reception. And the band... the BAND! So much fun.
Mark: "Seeing Amber before the wedding."
Amber: Seeing Mark see me before the wedding....I'll never forget what he said, "I'm so happy right now..."
Mark and I met through a couple in our bridal party, Mack & Amanda Stiles. Amanda was getting ready to marry Mack and I was hanging out at Castleton Farms during some of her pre-wedding activities. We became instant friends and she mentioned she wanted me to meet a friend of hers....enter Mark. We hung out for weeks before actually connecting.
Our first date weekend was quite comical. We were on Norris Lake and I wore a Phillies hat. (Being from South Jersey I'm a huge Philadelphia sports fan.) Mark is a Braves fan and decided I needed a hat to wear if he was "going to take me to a baseball game in Atlanta. So, the next day we met at Mack and Amanda's house to go to dinner and a movie and he brought me a Braves hat (which, by the way, was too big for me, so he still wears it to this day). We were inseparable after that weekend.
Proposal: Mark apparently had the ring for two weeks before actually proposing to me. I had a really long day at work and wasn't feeling like doing much. Mark and I had a casual dinner at a local mexican restaurant, and then he asked me if I wanted to sit on my front porch for a little while. Mark and I have spent countless hours on my front porch talking and it's also where we had our first dance. That day happened to be July 8 and my neighbors were having a post July 4th fireworks extravaganza. Fireworks are my favorite! Mark decided he couldn't wait anymore, so right there, while dancing to Jersey Girl by Bruce Springsteen, he popped the question. I loved it because it was perfect for us...if we would have had some over-the-top proposal with sky writing and a parade, I would have been uncomfortable.
Music was a huge part of our wedding. Since Amber is a worship leader, music has always been a major part of her life. Our prelude included My Dear by Hunter Thompson, This Is What You Do by William Matthews, For The Cross by Jenn Johnson and Oceans(Where Feet May Fail) by Hillsong Music. We had a special time to remember Mark's sister Shannon to the song Only The Good Die Young by Billy Joel. Our bridal party entered to Make You Feel My Love by Bob Dylan and They Bring Me To You by Josh Radin. The bride entered to a song called You Know Me by Steffany Gretzinger. Communion and the candle lighting were both to Our Father by Marcus Meier. The bride and groom exited to Mirrors by Justin Timberlake because we wanted to make it fun! The remaining recessional songs were Homeby Phillip Phillips, Good Life by OneRepublic and Next To Me by Emeli Sande.
The first dance was to You Are The Best Thing by Ray Lamontagne. One of the first songs we danced to on the front porch.
I think the best
advice I can give is to plan your weekend so that you can enjoy every second. I literally NEVER got stressed out (and we planned in less than four months)!! I think the reason for that was 1) an amazing wedding producer Amos Gott
and his incredible team but also because I spread the weekend out over more than two days like many weddings I've attended. The rehearsal was on Thursday. Friday was reserved for a lingerie party at Goodness Gracious Cafe
in Murfreesboro for the girls and skeet shooting on the farm for the boys. We got married in the evening on Saturday. Sunday was a day for us to be with our families and get all of our stuff into our house. We left for the honeymoon on Monday. Also, and this is something that was difficult for me to learn at first....let people help you! If your bridesmaids and family love you enough to be in your wedding, they want to help you so let them. I would plan another wedding for me and Mark this weekend...that's how much fun we had! It should truly be the happiest day of your life and keeping things that cause stress away from you will help you remember every single moment.
Bonus tip: at the reception, take a moment to go (alone) to the outside of all of the excitement and capture that moment in your mind. Someone gave me that advice and I took it. I'll never forget the memory of all of my favorite people in one place celebrating such an incredible time in mine and Mark's lives. Totally worth the 10 seconds away from it all!
Forals & Decor // Amos Gott
// Rose Reynolds at Bombshells Hair Studio & Spa
in Murfreesboro. She literally gave me the exact hair I asked for in under 30min. I felt like there was no need to sit in a salon for 2 hours. Rose was AMAZING!
// I did my own makeup but I used Double Wear by Estee Lauder
, finishing powder by Elea Blake Cosmetics
in Chattanooga, TN, Dior Addict Lip Maximizer High Volume Lip Plumper
in sheer pink and all the MAC
eyeshadow I could get my hands on. I had eyelash extensions put on about 6 weeks before and filled in the week before the wedding. It was good to get them early to get used to them. I don't recommend lash extensions for anyone who can't handle false eyelashes because you won't be comfortable. Personally, I LOVE them!!
// I used Adobe InDesign to make my own invitations and programs. I sent my design to Boxcar Press
and had a letterpress plate made. My sissy-in-love actually hand pressed all of the main invitations. She is AMAZING!! The invitation inserts were printed by Burns Mailing & Printing
in Knoxville and we purchased the envelopes from a local vendor in Knoxville, Wallace Paper Company
. It was a lot of work but it was worth it.
// My dress was from Wedding Wonderland
in Knoxville. Lisa and her team are the best!
for Macy's. They were totally comfortable but they run small, so you might want to consider a larger size than you'd typically wear.
// We were married on my family farm in Murfreesboro but I have to give a shout out to my good friend Darla Walker at Castleton Farms
without her I wouldn't have known what I needed and I wouldn't have found Carrie Jo, my incredible photog!
Rentals & Catering were all handled by Amos. Everyone needs an Amos!!! I can't talk about him enough!!! life. saver.
// Pat Patrick Band in Nashville. AMAZING!!! All of the musicians were talented and the two singers, Cissy and Joey
had the crowd going all night. People are still talking about how incredible the band was. I was overjoyed!!
